Game Recap

The St. Thomas Aquinas Lady Knights traveled to Kidron Central Christian on Saturday afternoon to take on the Comets in the Sectional Championship game and walked away with a hard-fought 54-48 victory.

The Comets jumped out to an early 1st quarter lead taking a 18-15 score into the second quarter. The Knights would come out with a defensive mindset and would hold Central to just 2 points in the quarter. Hayley Rorie would score 5 of her 9 points to help Aquinas take a 27-20 lead going into halftime.

The second half was a back-and-forth battle that would test Aquinas’ toughness in an environment that saw Kidron reach a 17-6 record coming into the game. Katie Hiestand would score 11 out of her game-high 24 points in the fourth. Even with a big 4th quarter by Hiestand, the Comets would get the game tied with 1:24 left in the game when Sydney Webb and Cassie Duplin would knock down free-throws to help secure the win.points in the fourth quarter to help the Knights pull away.

Kidron Central would be led in scoring by Talia Miller with 15 points and Carrie Hamsher with 10.
