Game Recap

The St. Thomas Aquinas Lady Knights basketball team clinched their first outright North Coast League championship in school history at home on Saturday afternoon against the Cleveland Central Catholic Lady Ironmen.

Aquinas took an early lead and never looked back on their way to a 56-24 victory where they outscored their opponent 33-10 in the second half. The Knights were led by Katie Hiestand’s double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Knights in their victory. Anne Meadowcroft would throw in 3 three-pointers to help the team with 10 points and Sydney Webb would score 7 on the afternoon.

With the win, the Lady Knights have secured their first outright NCL championship, and their first title in the league since they had a three-way tie for the title in 2014. Aquinas is currently 8-1 in the league and will finish up their season with Villa-Angela on Thursday night.
