When St. Thomas Aquinas High School distance running star Kalee Soehnlen awakened last Saturday morning she could barely walk. She had Plantar’s Fasciitis, a severe and extremely painful inflation that had enveloped one of her feet.
Fast forward to just a few short hours later, and Soehnlen was leading her Aquinas girls’ cross country team to the Division III Malone District crown while finishing second individually in the race out of 86 runners.
“I woke up with Plantar Fasciitis in my foot and I couldn’t even walk on it, so I just had to run in my training shoes today,” said Kalee Soehnlen. “I have learned to push through it.”
Kalee Soehnlen has a warriors’ mentality when it comes to competing, so no one on her team was surprised she was a district runner-up while basically competing on one healthy foot.
For her tremendous courage and never-say-die attitude, Soehnlen has been named The Review’s Female Athlete of the Week.
